Naturally there´s a lot to consider when you are about to move, especially if you move to another country. To make it easier for you before your removal, we have made a list of important issues to take into consideration. More lead time may be necessary when moving during the summer months due to the moving industry peak season. • Checked resident permits, import permits, work permits etc? • Checked that all passports are valid for the dates of your removal overseas? • Discussed with your bank if you need to transfer bank accounts and funds to your city of destination? • Notified schools and obtained copies of school records? • Transferred or sold memberships in sports facilities or given notice? • Begun to reduce your frozen food stock? • Made any VAT refundable purchases? • Advised Alfa Quality Moving if you are shipping firearms or controlled goods (e.g. alcohol, vehicles etc) so that precautions may be taken and formalities completed? • Organized pet transportation if appropriate? • Obtained vaccinations and medical certificates for travelling pets? • Made arrangements for the sale or shipment of your car, in line with the Customs regulations of your new country? • Disposed of goods which you no longer need? • Cancelled subscriptions of magazines, book clubs, etc (or arranged forwarding)? • Obtained medical certificates and records? • Informed Alfa Quality Moving about your new address and temporary address (if any) before your move? • Arranged full insurance cover for moving your household effects? • If you are a returning resident, located your inbound inventory list (this can be useful if not necessary for customs clearance). Note: If you are returning to your home country it is vitally important that you consult the destination agent in order to investigate if there are any restrictions regarding your status as a returning citizen. (Such as number of days spent in the country during the period of expatriation). This in order to identify the possible taxes and duties that might apply, and the possible ways of avoiding these taxes and duties, which can be rather high. |
